Tealed with a kiss

So "Tealed with a kiss" is a beautiful shade and one I was instantly drawn too. A Dark teal colour that was unusual, a happy change from pinks or a French manicure. I love the boldness of the colour. It will compliment my green makeup looks. It applied really nicely and has a thick, long haired brush. I had a good colour payoff on the first application. The second layer then gave me the strong, vibrant colour that was true to the bottle shade. Long wearing and smooth finish when the nail dried. Very impressed with this polish.

Ultra violet

Again what a beautiful bold colour for summer. Shades of Pantone's "Rich Orchid" so your nails will be in trend when you venture out. The colour application was easy and the same as "Tealed with a kiss". Two layers gives a rich and vibrant colour. It's formula is long lasting, having worn them for nearly a week. There's been no major chipping, only slight wear at the edges. I am redoing my nails now, so for the polish to last this long has impressed me so much.

I would purchase more of these polishes, as I think they are fantastic value for money. BeautyUK products I've tried have exuded quality for an affordable price. They are bringing out more products,  that I am excited to try. So it's a big thumbs up for these new Nails polishes. The shades are beautiful and also the application is very easy.

BeautyUK - New CC cream, Pressed powder, palette in amazon

As we have seen this year has brought with it amazing drugstore makeup. Continually pushing the boundaries and improving formulas to give women more choice and to ensure that quality is the main aspect when it comes to products. I've once again been given the amazing opportunity to review for BeautyUK, whom are an affordable and one of those companies bringing quality to the table.

They say
CC Cream - Lightweight, hydrating and colour correcting cream that will keep your skin safe under the sun with an impressive SPF 30! Contains light reflecting pigments that illuminate the skin to give a radiant and flawless complexion.  Incredible performance at a fraction of the price of other CC creams on the market.

Compact face powder - Achieve lightweight, enhanced coverage from this must have compact powder. Presented in a gorgeous glossy black case with flip lid, large mirror and applicator puff.

Eyeshadow/Gel liner palette in (2 Amazon) - WINNER! - Best New Eye Product 2011 at the Pure Beauty awards in London. Everything you could want in a palette! A collection of our 6 intensely pigmented shades and 2 gel-based liners - More precise than a pencil, more forgiving than a liquid, this super-smooth formula offers more control, play time, and build-able coverage than your average liner

So firstly I was sent the new CC cream and (numb.2) Amazon palette. The powder I bought myself plus another amazon palette for my sister in law.

Lets start with the packaging, I like BeautyUK's style with packaging. The black and white keeps it simple on the compact, whilst the CC cream is a simple concept but looks impressive. It certainly does not give the impression they have comprised the packaging for quality products, in my opinion.

The CC cream is SPF 30 which is fabulous for those of you whom are jetting to hot countries as autumn descends. I'm in the colour 10 natural and that's the only downside to the product is the colour spectrum. Now that's not just BeautyUK that's all makeup brands.

So the coverage is light whilst being hydrating and it gives a nice healthy glow, does even out minor skin tones issues. I just needed a little more tapped on my birth mark area, then all was even.
I actually would say this is a CC cream I would use when it's a daily for light coverage.

Now the powder again is number 1 to go with the fair shade. I would love for companies just to have a page chart. So I can just look for my skin tone, then look on that line. What CC cream, powder, foundation and concealer etc shade is
best suited for me.(*not just BeautyUK all brands)

Anyways the powder is soft and buttery which threw me a bit, as there was no wastage. It all was on my brush lightly tapped the excess. It is lightweight with a powder puff. Personally i dont use them at home, I love my RT powder brush. I do however leave it in the powder for touch ups when I'm at the hospital.  It's soft on application plus it doesn't highlight blemishes or go cakey on the dry areas. So highly impressed with this powder.

Now to the eyeshadow/gel-liner palette in Amazon (2) award winning. I have used the posh palette and shadow palette in glitz, which are highly pigmented plus they offer exceptional quality. So the colours in the Amazon palette are again pigmented, easily blend-able plus don't give much fall out considering there are some pretty shimmer shades. Even the white shadow which in most palettes is quite a find. This will bring out all the shades in the palette brighter if a light layer of white is applied, plus a great highlight for the inner eye.
Again the shadows are amazing pigment for the price and also the top layer is by far my favourite combination. However I have used the coral colour on my lid, taken the top middle gold from the tear duct then blended this with the coral. Then use the smallest brush and add the black for the smokey and defined finish to the eye.

Eyeshadow with the dark liner pressed with an angled brush in a thin liner

Now the one odd thing is the liners look navy and brown. I saw the blue liner, payoff on colour is again excellent and true to the palette. It's a drier formula so if you prefer liquid, then I would suggest using a damp brush or mix medium to make it more liquid. Then to make sure the colour is intense, set the liner with a powder of the liners colour.
Now you come to the brown and when I swatches it, I expected a dark chocolate brown. Instead under the brown lawyer was a dark mix colour of the brown, navy and black. I liked it as the colours all tie together with the shadows in the pan.

The CC Cream and Powder Coverage

Overall I really liked the CC Crean with the compact as it gave a nice finish and felt nice on the skin. My eye look was  I found to be easy to achieve, as the palette makes it easy to choose and blend a combination. Mix of matte and shimmer but no fallout so I was impressed.
The liner however was hard to apply with the brush included (used it to see if it was good). It wasn't and very scratchy so I went back to my brushes and found it to apply like a dream. It is a dryish formula to apply. However I'm not sure if I could use a mixing medium to make it softer to
work with.

BeautyUK - New posh palette in festival, Jumbo pencil,Baked blush review

I was kindly given the opportunity to review for BeautyUK. So when I saw the new line of "Posh palette's" just released, I was impressed. This season screaming neon from the get go with 70's inspired, so bright colourful looks here I come, let's hope they pop like they should. Also included to review was the stunning box blush in Halo and another jumbo pencil in Black/White this time.

BeautyUK products

The palette is callled "festival" which is apt considering the bold colour and we are indeed in festival season. So if you are looking for something different with bold and noticeable colour, this is the palette for you. The eyeshadows are easy to blend, then they merge to form lovely colour variants. As you can see the swatches are vibrant without a primer underneath, as I had an interesting theory i wanted to test. So again amazing pigmentation and colour payoff, with no chalkiness or fallout. When you go to pack this on, it stays and is buttery plus amazing formula for an affordable brand. I'm so impressed by the standard that I've made my resolution . As I'm on a spending ban, i will buy one/two items I don't own till the bans over. Then have the BeautyUK line as the start to my directory of brands. In my list of pages (at the side) will be a trusted brands, lookbook and holy grail to link posts of products I use and recommend. Il explain more in another post this week.

Posh palette in Festival

Now we come to another addition to the BeautyUK family. Says new on the website and this has now just made me crave her 3 pretty fellow boxed blushes. I would say this is more a highlight as I hope you can see from the swatch. It's a creamy, rose gold highlight, I've been in the hunt for a rose gold highlight like this for ages, I think this has just swayed me to purchase all of BeautyUK's blush line.  It's a creamy looking dome with gold veins that come together so easy with the swirl of your brush or even finger (sanitised). I found my finger helps more with application to my Cupid's bow, the bridge of my nose then lightly blend it with a small brush. Then stipple to the top of my cheekbones. This boxed blush I did use as a highlight as was too much of a champagne colour to use as a blush. So with the box and brush blushes i had already , I used a tiny dust of these and blended them all together to give a warm rosy glow.

Baked blush in Halo

As you may know when I used BeautyUK before I was blown away by the quality and standard of the products. If you want to see the Glitz palette review, Blush and brush plus Jumbo pencil in touquoise/black then click here. As these also were used in the look. I enjoy using these products in my look posts.

Jumbo Eye pencil in Black/White

Now with the Jumbo pencils, I loved the Black/Turqoise one so much it was in a lot of my looks last month. The black is deep in colour and multi-functional as a liner for the lid and the waterline. They are thick and I tend to use them more under the eye, then touch up to a thinner line using a damp cotton bud. Or the turquoise I would just use this, blend a little ok my lid then use the black to line and smoke this out for a quick on the go look. So when I saw that the Black/White was available It struck me as to if this would be a more accessible white base then a certain "YouTube" favourite and also comes with the black , making this the most travel friendly product.
So I covered my eye in the white and dabbed it in to the lid, it does have a slight tacky feel so I really believe this is why the shadow stuck so well to prevent fallout, yet oddly this tacky brilliance did not hinder my blending at all. Usually I would need to wait ages before I blended . So yes it's so affordable plus i believe this would work amazing with pigment.
BeautyUK your a genius as this is an excellent more cost effective item I will repurchase. Please bring more pastel colours out as they are brilliant.

My finished look and products used

This time I was thinking summer and sunsets, So did a theme of the sunset colours using the yellow in the inner corner by my tear duct, then packing the orange on the lid and blending this up toward the crease plus using the eyes natural "V" on the outter part of the eye as a guide.
Then taking the the bright pink in the top right, which reminded me of the pinky dawn colour, packed that into the centre to then blend. I took a tiny bit of the sea blue to add some definition. Then went over the middle with the same pink to make it be bold. (If there are smudges visible, it will be explained in a upcoming review of a new eyeliner). *Not a BeautyUK liner I must add*

So cleaned up I then took some of the orange to lightly blend in to the pink, the blue was very subtle. Even in the pictures there are some very shimmery shades, these do not fallout as much as I had assumed and stayed put. This whole look is beautyUK (bar a light BB cream, dust of powder and light dab of lip butter in "Lollipop"). I used the other products as well - like I said both the blushes I reviewed before and the turquoise under the cat flick eyeliner.

I'm again so impressed and doing these reviews just makes me want to do more and more looks. The colours are vibrant and blendable, they don't fallout as much as I had thought seeing the sparkle plus the boxed blush in halo it has to be said just blew me away. I'm in love with this and will purchase more as I would love make a BeautyUK drawer and use this as my daily plus artistic makeup with these amazing bold colours.

If you see any BeautyUK or are thinking of purchasing them, I will be doing a lot more looks and reviews on this amazing UK brand.

So stay tuned.

BeautyUK - 3 new shades of May

So I was kindly asked by, BeautyUK to test 3 new lipsticks that are going to be released. I wasn't going to turn down reviewing for this amazing, affordable makeup brand. So let me show you whats to come, to a Superdrug store near you.

So this is the trend for 2013, corals and neon brights to come out to play. You may think, ooo I don't know if that will suit me. I encourage everyone to play with colour, as its the season to try that bold lip or give that smokey eye a pop of colour, with BeautyUK being so affordable plus incredibly pigmented. Experiment, as it is liberating plus opens endless opportunity.
Also if your doing anything for charity (Race for life, fun runs etc) going on at the moment and you need some pinks then these are amazing.

So the 3 New shades for release

So shall we dive into the first colour names ? Now i love quirky and beautyUK these are brilliant and such imagination. When i told my beauty friends they were impressed and quite amused. Hence why i did my own little quirky title.

Pink my Ride

Now this colour is called "Pink my ride", very clever indeed, plus makeup is not meant to be serious. Its a means of fun artistic expression. So a neon pink, also the cap that shows the colour comes off to use as a liner or gloss. Personally with my long nails, i would take a travel lip pencil to touch up if i wanted to use the gloss also. So richly pigmented and bright, however on application it is not so scary looking to use. So i really do encourage anyone to try this colour in the store as you never know, it might just go with that outfit you've been wanting to try. Jazz it up with this amazing colour.
Plus it has some mild lip-plumping ability too, when you apply its almost a lovely minty smell you sense with a little tingle in the lips. So for touch ups i would use the little cap of gloss.

Son of a Peach

Now this name "Son of a Peach"  did make me giggle a lot, as its genius. A staple light pink nude for day or night, its the perfect colour if you want your eyes to be the main focus of your look. Again with the light pink gloss in the cap. I would say this for a nude colour its probably the best one I've come across that suits me. As I'm a more vibrant "Pink my ride" kind of a girl. Also I'm find nudes can drown out my complexion, however i would say if you want an affordable and high quality nude to try, this might be the shade for you.

Plumalicious

Now this was my favourite of the three, its a rich berry lipstick. This also has the minty plumping ability too, so this colour with a rich smokey eye would be amazing. Im going to use this colour in this weeks look-book edition. I want to show how a rich berry toned lip can really suit a sultry eye look, but not look over the top. Again the pigments are quite incredible in these formulas. Even when i tried to take the swatch off it took some firm rubs, so i think these will tint the lip then you would only need the gloss to touch them up during the day.

Swatches on the lip

So as you can see them on the lips here.
"Pink my ride" defiantly is not as scary when its applied plus it does plump and give the lip a fuller look
"Plumalicious" Is more of a cherry red on application and doesn't bleed nor feather so again a winner
"Son of a Peach" Very impressive nude pink that doesn't drown your features, still defining the lip.
They are all buttery with a smooth application, little needed to get this colour payoff. Like any good lipstick, it should do the work for you and keep a sharp precise application. The make the lips tingle just like the funny play on words, its not unpleasant but one coat is enough. Hence why you have the pot of gloss in the lid.

So i received a lovely gift from BeautyUK in being able to trial these beauties and they are also offering everyone the offer of 2 lipsticks for £5 (from the 5th June till the 2nd July) in all Superdrug stores.
So check them out as i was so impressed last review, they are worth the money in my opinion.

Birthday look-book - 2 looks

So these are the 2 looks i had the day before my birthday and on my birthday

So this is the look i had the day before in which i used my
MAC studio sculpt foundation (NW15)
MAC sheer pressed powder (NC25)
MAC defiantly defined powder
Physicians formula - Happy booster blush
BeautyUK - Brush and Blush in rustic
Urban decay - Primer potion
BeautyUK - Jumbo pencil in turquoise/black
Urban decay - Oz Theodora palette using colours jealous then MAC's Amber lights
Loreal Gel liner with brush included in Black
YSL - Mascara in black
MAC lipstick in Up the amp

So the eye look is firstly applying the primer potion to make the shadow adhere to the eye, so take the lighter colour of the duo jealous colour in the Theodora palette, apply this in the corner of the eye as a light highlight then apply up to the middle of the lid and also just above the crease. Then take the darker shade of jealous and work this colour over the lid and blend in with the lighter colour.
Take MAC Amber lights and then use a pencil brush to work this into a v shape in the crease and define the corner of the eye. Then with a fluffy brush work this crease colour down and blend in with the greens of the jealous palette. You will achieve an almost snake-skin affect and the iridescent glitters will make this look more prominent. I used paper tape with this look to catch the glitter fallout which is none to minimal, plus to get the straight and very clean liner on the eye-liner.
Then tightline the corner of the eye and follow into the waterline with the black side of the BeautyUK jumbo pencil, then with the turquoise side line under the water line then blend with a brush into the waterline so its not harsh, but makes the greens pop.
----------------------------------------

Only product differences
MAC - Temperature rising lipstick - In the pulse
MAC- Temperature rising pro long-wear bronzer - Sun dipped
(Full review/swatches of all MAC products will be coming this week)

So this look used again the same above facial products and the eye makeup steps are the same but i took darker greens plus blended in some light blues and took the turquoise pencil right into the tear duct and used this as the inner highlight, slightly blended but not too much as this is what make the eyes pop with the blue and green shadow. I don't define the upper lid too much when i use the pencil under the waterline.  This defines the eye for you.

So what do you think ?

Lookbook - Wet and Wild, BeautyUK looks

So im going to start doing a weekly look-book at what products I've used and how I've achieved these, plus the finished result. Then if you like any you can see the relevant post from that week or brand to see the full review.

So we will start with the basics of what i used to prime my face on these looks and that would be these
products

Elemis Pro-radiance Flash balm (Primer) - review to follow this week
BeautyUK - New matte FX Foundation (Suited more for normal to combination skin)
BeautyUK - Blush and Brush - I used both mixed with the Pink giving the flush of colour and the more peach to give a light bronzer effect and highlight, they are really great products to use and you need a tiny amount.
Eye-Primer as always my Urban decay primer potion
Palettes used are Wet and Wilds - Don't steal my thunder and BeautyUK- Glitz
YSL - Volumise and lengthen mascara

Now i have done separate look charts and if you want any thing added to these look books please leave a comment and il be happy to answer or if you want any looks to be done.

So the first will be the BeautyUK look i achieved with the Glitz palette

I started by using the lightest pink on the eye and a touch of the silver to the inside corner of the eye as highlight, then taking the darker pink fill the lid with this colour so the light pink still is present and makes the eye pop. Then with the lightest blue i blended a little in the crease and it made this amazing purple shade when blended and also made the lid pink have a purple tinge to it.
When all is blended take some of the black shimmer and pack a little into the outer "v" and blend inwards so you just have more definition to the eye and the other colours will just look like they have faded making the lid the focal point. I then used the BeautyUK jumbo pencil liner (Black side) to lightly line the eye and make it pop. As you can see in the bottom left picture the BeautyUK blushers being used as a pop of colour to the cheek and the rustic peach as a gentle highlight. When doing a bold eye that has a lot of shimmer i don't like using a more pearl highlight as i find its too much.
So the rustic peach blush was a fine and lovely highlight. Also the turquoise side of the pencil i just lightly used it under the waterline to the outer V then continued into the inner V with the black side.
I really like how these shadows blend and work well together, so many variants can be used with this palette.

--------------------------------------------

So look 2 was done with Wet and Wilds - Don't steal my thunder ONLY, bar the eye-pencil which again was the beautyUK one, I started from the inner crease with the brow-bone colour at the top as a base for the whole eye then i cover the lid with the silver colour. I then used the define and packed it along the lid till half way in, then i blended this until it was a fluid colour and even, it must have a duo-chrome in all the shadows as it looks dark blue but i assure you i used none. Then going in again with the define black colour i used a pencil brush to define the crease and V. Then again lined my eyes with the Black jumbo eyeliner.

So what do you think ?
Now in the coming weeks i will be reviewing the
Stila - Daydream Palette , MAC vs AVON eyeliners
W7 - Nude palette , e.l.f nail polish remover pads
Technic , Nail art posts
e.l.f - Custom palette , Skincare posts
Plus branching into fashion and lifestyle reviews of everyday items used

This will be mixed with other reviews i have coming.

*Disclaimer is in my pages sections

Where have i been ?

Many of us use makeup as we have a passion or or it is nessesity of our daily life. For me it is a mixture of things. It is one of those ...
