Eye of Horus - Scarab Sapphire Goddess pencil

Eye of horus is a beautiful brand from Australia. Its ideal for those with sensitive eyes, especially if your looking for a eye kohl. The new shade of goddess pencil is available and it is a stunning shade.

They say :

Representing regeneration, health and protection, the ancient Egyptian Symbol of the Eye of Horus ensures healing, wisdom and prosperity to its bearer. The ancients used the most precious waxes and oils in their iconic eye makeup, including: Beeswax, Ricebran Wax, Canauba, Candellia, and Jojoba waxes and Almond.

Scarab sapphire review

So firstly this colour "Scarab sapphire" is stunning. It has a deep blue with an undertone of purple. Almost microglittlers when you see it applied. The creamy and  soft pencil gives a clean and comfortable application. It applies to the waterline really well and is a beautiful colour payoff.

There are pictures showing the pencils can be buffed out, then apply eyeshadow on top. I would love to try blending out the colour to look beautiful, especially with a taupe, silver and grey. This would be  a lovely duo chrome effect, as its so jewel toned that you won't need to use a shimmer. Plus with it being blended it can be used during the day, with neutral eyeshadow shades on top. The pop of fall colour will come through with this beautiful jewel base.

 I have used the goddess pencil in the waterline for my look. I feel it makes the blue hues in the eyeshadow really stand out. The goddess line of eye pencils are so impressive, if you struggle to find sensitive eyeliner then look no further. I love the goddess pencils that i own and i cannot wait for the eyeshadow palettes to come to the UK. Its the most exciting makeup line, i look forward to new items coming out as the quality is exquisite. The natural makeup from Eye of Horus is excellent and i do encourage anyone looking for a natural line to try them.

Have you tried any Eye of Horus products ?

Eye of Horus - New goddess pencil additions ( Lazuli blue and Jewel Amethyst )

So I have had the upmost pleasure last year to review, Eye of Horus liquid define and loved the product. I was kindly allowed to trial one of the 2 new Goddess pencil additions.

A little about the Eye of Horus ;
The Eye of Horus range of Goddess eye makeup is based on Ancient Egyptian formulas and ingredients, including Carnauba wax, Rice Bran wax, Candelilla wax and the revered Moringa oil claimed by the Gods for its beautifying and regenerating powers.

The Goddess pencils are
- A creamy rich formula that is easy to apply and is long-lasting
-  Waterproof & smudge-proof
the smudger on the end enables use as a eyeshadow (be quick though)
-  Resists oil and perspiration with no fading

2 New shades are ;

Lazuli blue - Embellish your eyes with stunning sacred Lazuli Blue - Lunar stone of the Goddess, bewitches with a flash of vibrant blue immortalising your look to alluring desire. Our bright electric blue will immediately transform and intensify with radiant colour, smudge and smoulder for a serious pop of colour.

Jewel amethyst Our Jewel Amethyst offers a deep purple colour with intensely rich pigments and bold metallic micro-glitter. To instantly captivate like a jewelled Goddess, our smooth formula is bright and rich for a serious pop of colour, the ‘it’ colour for 2014.

Packaging :
So the packaging for Eye of Horus products is beautiful. Comes wrapped in a black bag with embossed hyroglifics down the middle. The paper inside also is black with gold logos and writing printed.

Goddess pencil consistency :
Is an extremely smooth and creamy pencil which is paraben, cruelty free using only natural ingredients. Made up of Moringa oils and natural ingredients, perfect if your on the look for sensitive friendly cosmetics. I didn't need to warm the pencil to do my swatch, it was a simple back and forward motion. It did not pull nor cause skin irritation, plus extremely pigmented.

Lazuli blue review ;
The pencil is extremely pigmented. I would say its a beautiful jewelled light blue. It comes with a smudger which gives a duel purpose, to be used as a shadow or an eyeliner. I would advise to do an eye at a time, if you wish to use as a shadow. I used brushes, as they were more gentle for eye smudging. I found the colour was beautiful for under the eye, to highlight the natural colour. I love the pencils as they are stunning colours. They are perfect for the waterline and don't move. Most pencils in my experience need reapplication, due to gradual fading in the day. The Eye if Horus products do not need reapplication.  *(It my personal preference as I find sponges drag no matter how soft.)

Eye of Horus - Liquid Define eye liner

So one of the most eagerly anticipated brands I've been dying to try. After seeing Australian bloggers rave about the products, the've finally arrived to the UK. The sheer beauty of the Egyptian era , makes there slogan "Awaken the Goddess" even more appealing.

 Brand information about the "Eye of Horus".
Suffering from sensitive eyes and fine brittle lashes, the girls behind our brand researched how the Ancient Egyptians used natural waxes and oils in their iconic eye products. We used the ancient formula as a basis for our eye makeup range. To provide products that are long lasting, non irritating, nourishing and great for sensitive eyes, avoiding the use of nasty chemicals. We are an Australian owned company, who is committed in "Awakening the Goddess" in every woman. We know we are all beautiful, no matter what age. No matter where we have come from or what our life story is.

So the product I chose to review was the Liquid define eye liner. As I do love eyeliner,  I have yet to find a pen version that delivers. The main reason I want a precise and pigmented pen is for my makeup bag. As gel liner is not travel friendly especially in application.
So the liquid define arrived in the most beautiful packaging I've seen in a long time. Embossed with the Eye of Horus logo in gold, then faint hieroglyphics running up the centre of the bag. I read the magazine, then just dived right into trying this product. I must apologise as in my effort to capture the pen on my camera, the gold glare made them very blurred. So I will show you the promotional picture.

So my impression of the packaging is sleek, however it's a pen so it will justifiably look like a lot of brands offerings. The most important questions  are its capability to deliver, ease of use/ pigmentation and staying power.

Pigmentation
 I will start with saying I did two review tests. The first was to apply a swatch to my arm to see the close up effect, the second was ease of use. I was asking myself :
- Does it smudge or bleed ?
- Did it chip or flake through the day ?
- Was it pigmented and for how long ?

 In the picture is a poor photo of the nib of the liner. Finally the swatches which as you can see are bold, striking and intensely black. They didn't bleed, smudge or flake for a good 7-8 hours and removed easily with a baby wipe. I'm very impressed with this liquid liner and it's pigmentation. Rich and flawless.

Ease of use
 I then went to trial ease of use by doing a look with the liner. It was a simple natural look, to show off the liners appearance on the eyelid. Application was in my opinion very easy and I rarely use a liner pens. As I find they drag, then clog's so i opt to use a brush and gel formula. I've only found 2 liquid liners I can purchase for travel use.

As you can see in these pictures, it gives a thin and even application of liner. You  can build this up to suit your look. I just wanted to show the area we all find troublesome, being the inner eye. I find this is where my mistakes happen and I then need to thicken to make it symmetrical. This didn't happen and my liner took me 5 minutes (usually takes me 10 with a gel and brush) and I was amazed. I will continue to use this liner from now on because of all the points I've raised.

So in conclusion the Liquid define did not disappoint in any way. It delivered on all the points I personally look for, if I was to purchase a pen liner. I only have two that I would pick to have in my makeup bag. This liner is on the more premier price point. So I would re-purchase, however I would need to see how long it lasts before any problems arise. (E.g - dragging, drying out, etc)  If it does last a good amount of time then I would repurchase as a treat. I would however look to purchase the eyeliners, as the colour selection looks stunning.

I can't wait for the palettes release also, as I've had a little look and they are divine.

So thank you to Eye of Horus for allowing me to review for them.

Where have i been ?
