As some of you maybe aware, I had major surgery recently. This made me go through early menopause (I'm 34), part of this process has meant I've been loosing my hair at a rapid pace. My thought's : 

I have very thin hair and bald area's on my scalp, which is a major change from long thick curly hair. I however always think it could be worse, so I began to think of ways to improve my apperence. 

As being a young woman and having obvious hair loss can knock your confidence. I started looking for cover up's to alternatives just to help me feel feminine and happier about myself again.

Hair extensions seemed the most obvious option. However I do think that bonded extensions at the current time are well beyond my price range. So I started looking into clip in hair and wigs, finding alot more choice available. After doing my research and seeing the quality of Sleek hair via the website. I picked blonde as I wanted a vast change to my current hair and as I cannot dye my hair, this is the nearest alternative. 

My thought's on the Sleek Hair Couture wig are very positive in that everything from the packaging, hair quality and colour etc, is done in such a professional manner it's the high end of wig's and hair. I felt confident wearing the wig and whilst the strap's took some getting used to, the more i wore it the easier it became to adjust. I would advise using a wig band if you have baby hairs like myself and have to keep tucking it behind your ear. This helps keep the hair flat and made applying the wig so much easier with less need to adjust. 

I would highly recommend and Im currently saving for my second, as they are worth the money and I feel amazing wearing this wig. It's definitely boosted my confidence and the compliments ive recieved have been so uplifting. I cant thank Sleek enough for allowing me this fabulous opportunity

So when i was asked to review some of the New editions to the Style and finish range at Joico, i was more then happy to oblige. My hair struggles with products and with the technology involved within Joico's product to protect hair as well as get the best out of it. I knew i was dying to try the Power Whip and Power Hold hair spray.

So firstly the Power Whip, described as :

Sleek professional packaging with a helix in the corner to symbolise the nutrients. Very stylish addition to anyone's hair routine. Now the hair whip is ideal for my curly and uncontrollable hair. I find if I use a mousse then it will end up, overloaded and just crispy feeling. Or it will just run out over the course of the day so my ends and underneath will be so frizzy. I don't like to put so much in that it's obviously loaded heavy with product. I just would like to put enough in when it's drying so it then binds it for the day. This is why I like the holding rating on the products, this will give you the perfect product for whatever event. So if I was just wanting to hold my hair lightly for a daily effect then I can choose a lesser strength. This doesn't make my hair feel crunchy or loaded. I always put serum on before then the mousse, it still looks natural with this product. So I'm really happy with the power whip. 

Then we come to the Power Hold Hair spray :

A fast-drying, ultra-fine mist aerosol hairspray with firm to ultra-firm hold. Opal Powder creates tremendous shine, and special silicones contribute to a smaller particle size for a non-sticky fixative. hair is 5.5 times more thermally protected to 450°F. Colour-safe.

This firm to ultra-firm, layerable hairspray will give your hair a long- lasting, firm yet flexible finish that isn’t hard feeling. Plus, it will increase your shine by 170% and protect your hairstyle from humidity by 89%, (even after three days).

Now the finishing spray is probably the product I would use regularly as it just illuminates them last stragglers. Its a light spray and again if your like me and have really uncontrollable hair, I use serum first. Then this hair spray will definately give you a light feeling and hold. It smells amazing and also leaves your hair seperated even with the heavy hold rating.

So I'm so impressed with the Joico products as they definately remind me of salon quality. Giving you that hold with your hair still feeling light and bouncy. 

Popband

So Popband are a new and i must say quite sassy company on the block, they make hair bands that i know are a rival to another very similar design. However the Popbands come with lovely jewels and also look more fun and cute.

Now my hair is so thick i tried the rival to Popband a while back and it frayed and broke so badly that i had to throw it away, it was not a great experience. So when i was accepted to review for Popband i was so excited as they are really lovely plus its a hairband you don't mind having on your wrist when you just want a safety band.

So these lovely Popbands come with lovely sparkle jewels on them or you can opt for plain ones. I really love the jewelled ones as they add a lovely bit of sparkle to your hair when you want to just tie your hair up in a simple style.

Now the trial is the most important test to this, did they stand up to the thick hair that i own ? Well yes they did and even when i removed the Popband it still had a strong elastic spring back and not loose at all. No fraying or any damage to the Popband at all. So I'm really impressed and i think il be purchasing more of them as they stand up to the test of my hair then wow they could do an hair justice.

The range of colours is lovely with candy to professional blacks for working days. 

I really do hate the boring hair bands that are available and don't use scrunchies (nothing wrong with them as i know they are coming back in trend) personally just not for me. 

I want a simple band with hold plus if it had a little sparkle then I'm a happy girl, i crave simple things for my hair and this meets my need totally.

The Packaging - Double Volume Instant Weave

The grip system

I can honestly say i was dubious as i have used hair extensions before and well they always end up falling out and just not lasting as they are just so hard to position.

So when the double volume hair came i was surprised to see that it was a new system of grips and it seemed so easy to attach. Now i put my hair in a flat bun, with the crown of my hair to about and inch back left out. From that line is where you place the top layer of grips, you then take the grips at the bottom and pull them over your flattened hair and pin them into the base of your head. Then brush your hair to merge and look natural with the weave. I even had this to near the crown of my hair line and then covered the join line with a hair band, this was just as un-noticable and good for if your wary, as i am of thinning hair.

Now ive used this a number of times as my hair is thinning and I'm quite aware of this (hormonal treatments at the moment) so i wanted something to try to see if i could just add some volume and thickness to my hair. Ive honestly never had so many compliments and amazing feedback from my friends and family about how well i look. They have all said the quality is amazing as well my sis-in law uses hair extensions and I've had experience of them also. It feels secure and really once you fix the bottom layer in , it will not move or show any form of being a hair piece. It has a beautiful light bouncy curl and is reminiscent of the oscar hair styles beaming the old hollywood glamour, classic wavy curls. Very easy to maintain by holding the top and lightly brushing to keep that curl and prevent knots.
It does come with a hair net so much easier when storing and i keep mine in a shoe-box with tissue paper for protection.

I really love using this hair, it looks natural in the colour and I must admit the only thing that i had to get used to was having this much hair. As i did get a little warm when i was doing my makeup but i simply tied it in a loose plait and kept it off my face. I can see by the type of grips that the security will not be an issue with it becoming stretched or loose. So its a worth while investment.
