Elemis - New: Skin nourishing body scrub

So no secret that Elemis is a brand I love and trust with my skin. They have just released 2 new scrubs and I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to review one of them. The Skin nourishing body scrub is enriched with natural exfoliators and just what you need if your adding that tan or suffering with dry skin from the heat.

It comes in a blue squeeze container and the other scrub is contained in a jar. This scrub I'm trailing is easy to dispense and I love all the Elemis packaging for being very classy with the logo and also there products don't let me down ever in quality. It contains a mixture of natural exfoliators which i personally love, as almonds are my favourite smell in a product with vanilla. As you can see in the picture and the miniature scrub beads within it. Then with water added what its then transforms into a creamy wash. It says sand but as you will see below it is minimal and not enough to cut or damage the skin like some harsh scrubs can, this is aimed at people needing a gentle formula to treat areas, sensitive like the feet and all over in preparation for false tan.

This is not a harsh scrub, its natural and contains a lovely scent of scrub without being to abrasive or uncomfortable. Its perfect if you want a scrub that exfoliates but with a lighter touch. It spreads further and you don't need a lot to clean with and its not overloaded with the husk so you don't have to worry about your drains clogging. As I know some exfoliates and bath salt can cause problems. This dissolves to nothing and minute is left behind to wash away. 

Again I'm happy and amazed this scrub is keeping the Elemis brand so strong and moving with the years, bringing new products to the fold which they can be proud of. Its again another I would repurchase. The natural ingredients mean the scent is natural and fresh smelling, I prefer and love that the ingredients properties ensure that it will take off dead skin but also moisturise and not strip the skins natural oils and defences.

I can't wait to try the frangipani one which is a salt based scrub and can be a little more abrasive to those whose skin needs a little more help, also with all these looks the new Makeup remover is a definite must try for the makeup I use and using more natural appeals to me more. I don't think my love of Elemis will ever dampen and honestly it's a brand that I turn to when my skins just let loose to its worst. So I cannot wait to try the other new products and let you know how they perform.

BBB - British beauty blogger box

BBB box was released this week and I saw this by chance on a blogger site. Now to say this sold out like a hot cake is an understatement, when I emailed there was 6 left.

I saw the YouTube video and the promotional post via the blog and was so impressed that I asked if I could order. It was £19.95 incl postage. Well worth the money in my opinion. So many quality products were included that they were snapped up in quick record time.

It came in a box lined with pink tissue paper, had a booklet inside which gave a overview of each product plus certain products had promotional codes. Really great addition and showed it was well thought of, constructed over many months and had a main aim to offer value to the consumer as well as an opportunity to trial great products.

I love all the products and have come across most of them in many beauty boxes before but the value is that I have these as travel companions for when I go to hospital or I really want to do a long trial of a product to see if I wish to purchase it.

The bourjois cream blush is just stunning and it does look a little orange but then smoothes out into a beautiful peachy warm toned blush. Really beautiful for summer. B. mascara I have wanted to try for a while as I've not had the opportunity to try any of there products as yet so I'm looking forward to using this when I've finished with this months mascara. (I do a monthly mascara review now). 

The illamasqua was also another product I wanted to add to my lovely collection as the colour is so unusual and I think it will go well with my green eyes as a base. I'm looking forward to using this colour. Also within the booklet there was codes to some brands offering percentages off products and showed a lot of work went into this box.

This was well worth the money and i really hope she releases more boxes as i would defiantly purchase again. It is quality and all the items beauty bloggers and lovers want in a box. Variety and quality products with proper sized samples. Im very impressed and will hold my hands up to say well done British beauty blogger you done an amazing job.

Look book - Lana del rey

 Inspiration post and look-book : Lana Del Rey

Not being one to go for the normal in styles, it seemed only natural i was drawn to the passionate and soulful music of lana del rey. With her insightful take and also her mix of vintage style, she encapsulates natural beauty. So to try to grab a slice of her style is hard as I'm no lana del rey (Nor am i trying to copy her look) all I'm trying to do is capture the style and feel through her makeup.

So first of all to notice is the clean lines around the eyes and also the smokey hint, however not overly smokey that you loose her completely. She has a lovely hint of tan without over loading on the bronzer or blush. 

So this is the list of products i used

So fo this look i made sure my base was kept to a light colour and my natural skin tone as i don't want to over bronze this look. The key is to keep very natural, also using a mineral concealer ensured that i could blend easier. So with a slight hand with a small application of bronzer to the main contours but not heavy, also pick a natural flush blush that ensures a natural a finish as possible. Then use the Extra Dimension to highlight the eye bone area and temples, this Defiantly defined is a nice tanned colour to use then a stark silver or golden highlight. Its subtle and amazing. They eyes and lips will go against the grain by being very intense but will merge in the neutral palette of colour and pop being the lipstick you choose.

So i went in first with my good old paper tape to line the bottom of my eye so this line is sharp and crisp. Also the fallout will be caught but the naked palette by urban decay has little. So using the Helen -E eye primer firstly to prime the lid then pack on sin from the inner tear duct to the middle of the eye. Use a little of this to highlight the inner eye.

Then taking Half baked and Toasted pack this and blend together, then take some Hustle (only a little as its very pigmented) then blend in toward the 'V' but this is to enhance the black on the gel liner. The main colour to see is the sin and toasted blended into a lovely golden mix. If you want it more intense then add some more Half baked.

Now the tricky bit but its worth it - remember practice makes perfect and you don't need to make it this heavy just build up as you get more confident. There is loads of Tutorials on youtube off many respected makeup artists and i found the paper tape, really helps first time users. Gel liner is also a lot more easy to apply as it doesn't drag, however the brushes included are rather big so i would use a flat angled brush thats small, to literally pat a line in the area, then you can build on this guideline. 

So then application of lipstick (Exfoliate and balm the lips before all face makeup as then they will be fabulous) which in my case was - Lickable by MAC, a lovely blue based brighter pink to really complement that golden look. Accessorise with flower hairbands, natural waves or backcombed and slicked hair.

Elemental goddess - Fire

So in keeping with the elemental series of goddess' I'm doing the next one shall be - Fire.

Now this was tricky as I didn't want to do the standard red and yellow cartoony flames. I wanted to add something different with the addition of sooty colours to symbolise the ash and also take the forehead to a "V" where flames would start and then go back towards the hair. Now I'm aware It would have looked so much better if I'd had contacts or a form of head-piece. I'm no makeup artist and this is just me using my body as an art canvas. My therapy. 

So what I used (If a grid of products i used would help please comment as id happily add this) ;

Elemis - Pro- radiance illuminating balm ( just for under the eyes to brighten)

Illamasqua - hydra veil primer 

Benefit Fake up (01) and Paula's choice concealer in light to cover the redness from hay fever season.

Kay hart mineral -  Yellow concealer

Mix of MAC (NW15 studio sculpt) plus Loreal true match foundation 

Physicians formula - youth wear powder in translucent 

Sleek blush - Pomegranate

Sigma golden highlight - resort palette 

Maybelline colour tattoo - Metallic pomegranate 

La Colours palette - Stargazer (reds,golds and bronze colours used)

Vivo single eyeshadow - like 24ct Black and gold mineral colour

Loreal Gel liner - Black

Illamasqua liquid metal- red & gold

So first of all moisturise with the Elemis illuminating balm and also I used this to add some brightness to my eye area as il be using quite bold ash colours. Then the illamasqua Hydra veil to prime my face fully, once dry then take benefits fake up to the under eye and Paula's choice light concealer to the nose to cover redness from seasonal hay fever. Set this with either a mineral loose clear powder or in my case Kay hart yellow mineral concealer to set this into place. This is the best mineral concealer I've used and its very light plus doesn't clog.

Then using a mix of Studio sculpt and True match blended in on the back of my hand to warm, apply evenly. Rubbing in with fingers and adding another layer if needed. I find mixing these two makes a full coverage foundation so one layer is enough. Then set when dry with the Youth wear powder as it has a flick of a highlighting property with shimmer. Not a lot but enough to make the face illuminate without needing to add more powders then needed. Take the sleek blush and apply a good layer stippling this colour in and working that so the lines aren't harsh and the colour is also taken up towards the ear.

So then we take the maybelinne colour tattoo and paint the eye with this taking it past the just past the crease. Then using the vivo single shadow, pack that onto the outer "V" blending towards the middle. Don't take it past the crease as you want some of the colour tattoo to still show. Then taking the La colours (top bronze and gold to the right) take the gold to highlight the tear duct and also bring this colour to meet the middle in strokes (feathering effect to break up bulk colour and help give dimension) , as you want to use the bronze too in the same way with some of the dark pomegranate still visible. 

Line the eye with the red colour from the illamasqua palette and the gold to line the bottom lash line. Then taking the black gel liner do the wing and run this line above the red on the top lash line running this to a point in the middle. Use the gold to take the line from the bottom to above the black wing and again run this to a tip at the end. The black liner should also run a little at the edge of the lower lash liner to a point at the waterline. Line the waterline with Perversion. It should be an effect where the Gold, black and red are inter-twining.

Then for lips take the perversion and lightly line the lip (sterilise the pencil after after) then using a lip brush blend this in and add some of the red and gold from the illamasqua palettes to blend with, use some lush liquid red lipstick to just ombré the middle section (Make it look like drips so the lips are fiery and like a lump of coal thats red inside but black around it). Use some concealer on a brush to tidy and make the lip edges sharper. My hair line was some of the vivo 24ct colour stippled with the pomegranate sleek blush, then take the gold and red illamasqua on to a fine nail art brush and fan in some lines for flames also towards the sides, take lush' red liquid lipstick and dab some on so it then fades into the brow line.  Now I used some vivo to stipple the sides above the blush to give the feeling of ashes and also ran some gold threw my brow-line. Then just tap in some Sigma golden highlight to give the illusion of the yellow flame through the brows and in the areas most prominent and your done.

Elemis - Pro-collagen Cleansing Balm

So its no secret to you all that i adore Elemis products and have loved the Pro radiance illuminating balm for a primer and moisturiser. Its soothing through my times when I'm a needing some soft touch to my skin so it seemed sensible to pair this with my cleansing routine, by replacing my fresh-skin face wash. Now i used this with my clarisonic in the evenings and with using makeup to help remove the grime plus with the clarisonic being so intense you don't want a harsh cleansing wash with that. 

The Elemis Pro-collagen is a thicker balm which i prefer with my clarisonic as i find it doesn't slip or move as much as the liquid kinds. Its gives the cleaning system a chance to really dissolve all the dirt that the soap may escape in normal circumstances. It does have a almost herbal smell to it but a little goes a long way, literally a light scoop will be plenty. I found it to be refreshing and also choose to use this in the morning on a muslin as it made my skin feel awake and just very fresh.

I can see why it is so popular as with all Elemis, it just is helping nourish the skin in every way and breaks down all the pore clogging grime, plus left my skin feeling very smooth which is why i chose to use it twice a day. I felt like it made the perfect base to really ensure my moisturisers and primers (Pro-illuminating balm) absorbed fully and ensure that first defence in your daily routine before makeup is effective. Its a cleanser i know when i am testing other products if i succumbed to any breakout or problem this would balance my skin in no time. 

I love this balm and find it so effective in all the claims it makes. Its even multi-tasking as a facial mask for relaxation. If you so wish to use the balm lightly on the skin for 10 minutes to warm up then remove with a warm cloth. Its just like a aromatherapy mask with the oils infusing more with the bodies heat making the aroma intense to calm the senses. I have not tried this yet, as i know i would probably end up falling asleep being in such a relaxed states so i have just used it for one purpose. Im happy with the results and enjoy this product immensely.

So many people will know my love for Elemis as the Fresh-skin range is basically my all round everyday skincare for use with my clarisonic as well, also there wipes being my all time favourite wipe. Im just wishing the price comes down soon in a deal so i can stock up on them as I'm having to now go back to the affordable version i use. Anyways back to the current releases, which I'm really excited about as i just received a wonderful tub of the Pro-radiance cleanser  in a goody bag, which has on record time scales sold a seriously impressive amount. 

So i was so excited when i saw there was a Pro-radiance illuminating Balm was being released.

skin tone*An illuminating balm that i could use as a primer was my main excitement, as i saw a pre-release and its qualities being hailed as a 'hybrid moisturiser' capable of a 3 in 1 properties. Plus during its consumer testing achieved amazing results after only 14 days.

With - 89% claimed boost in radiance instantly, 85% agreed it moisturised and helped fine lines and wrinkles then 91% as a primer said it helped provide a more even skin tone.

Elemis - Pro-Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm 

So shall we test these theories out that the consumer statistics claimed this product could achieve and il admit my main aim for this products use will be as a primer. I do have some un-even skin-tone and can look very tired plus have fine lines in my forehead and under my eyes. Basically every woman's problem at a certain age hitting. I wont lie i have fine lines beginning and my lip area tends to be slightly darker in my smile lines. Also i have two tiny birth marks on one cheek that only are noticeable when my skin tone gains some colour.

So the Elemis packaging comes in a tube form method of dispensing and has as always the sleek logo at the top and the title at the bottom. In its simple packaging its chic, plus i prefer the tube as i find pumps will make you loose some product when your near the end. If you spend for high quality you should be able to use it all so in this case i will be. It has "Anti-ageing" also added to the tube which we will see as im planning to do the 14 day test the consumers did with makeup. I want to see all the positives plus, i also want to see whom this illuminating balm is most useful for. Being of a dry skin type i alway use a moisturiser and primer to help protect my face from being dried out by my makeup but also barrier from any products that may make my skin look dry. So on the leaflet it does instruct to use on top of the moisturiser, which makes sense for the illumination when used as a primer.

The consistency is thick, but is very easy to spread with the body's warmth to help the product absorb. Now my main concern on using this firstly is that its scented which can be a main cause of sensitivity with cosmetic products. How ever when it was rubbed into my skin it did not feel sore in any way or irritated by the product.
I then on using more and more realised it was more of a camomile scent then any sort of fragrance plus has a light tinge to it of beige. So I'm assuming no actual scent is within the product but its just the ingredients natural essence I'm smelling. Now i have used this as a primer and moisturiser to see if the bold statements stand true. I can honestly say i used a silicone based primer if my skin was to bad. As I would say "polyfill" it, as i don't want my dry skin to show up more. Then with putting loads of makeup on then reverse the work of moisturising too etc.

As a primer it works brilliant for my skin, being more normal to dry skin tone (Dry in cold weather), i found the product absorbed really well. Plus i was making sure to really use circular motions to get it really into the pores, plus all areas that suffer fine lines and unevenness.
Now the main area i noticed a difference is under my eyes, I'm going to look into this with the leaflet more to see if there is some form of reflective additive. As my bags and the need for concealer lessened or was non existent on some days. You may think well how bad can my bags be, I'm a insomniac so i have grey circles needing a ton of product to correct the light effect in this area.
Im so impressed again with these new gems Elemis keeps on releasing. I would repurchase this in a heartbeat as i feel it really makes a difference plus i suffer with skin that needs a moisturising barrier between my makeup. So multifunctional product that can be used in so many ways is a huge thumbs up for me.

So im going to start doing a weekly look-book at what products I've used and how I've achieved these, plus the finished result. Then if you like any you can see the relevant post from that week or brand to see the full review. 

So we will start with the basics of what i used to prime my face on these looks and that would be these

products 

Elemis Pro-radiance Flash balm (Primer) - review to follow this week 

BeautyUK - New matte FX Foundation (Suited more for normal to combination skin)

BeautyUK - Blush and Brush - I used both mixed with the Pink giving the flush of colour and the more peach to give a light bronzer effect and highlight, they are really great products to use and you need a tiny amount.

Eye-Primer as always my Urban decay primer potion

Palettes used are Wet and Wilds - Don't steal my thunder and BeautyUK- Glitz 

YSL - Volumise and lengthen mascara 

Now i have done separate look charts and if you want any thing added to these look books please leave a comment and il be happy to answer or if you want any looks to be done.

So the first will be the BeautyUK look i achieved with the Glitz palette 

I started by using the lightest pink on the eye and a touch of the silver to the inside corner of the eye as highlight, then taking the darker pink fill the lid with this colour so the light pink still is present and makes the eye pop. Then with the lightest blue i blended a little in the crease and it made this amazing purple shade when blended and also made the lid pink have a purple tinge to it. 

When all is blended take some of the black shimmer and pack a little into the outer "v" and blend inwards so you just have more definition to the eye and the other colours will just look like they have faded making the lid the focal point. I then used the BeautyUK jumbo pencil liner (Black side) to lightly line the eye and make it pop. As you can see in the bottom left picture the BeautyUK blushers being used as a pop of colour to the cheek and the rustic peach as a gentle highlight. When doing a bold eye that has a lot of shimmer i don't like using a more pearl highlight as i find its too much.

So the rustic peach blush was a fine and lovely highlight. Also the turquoise side of the pencil i just lightly used it under the waterline to the outer V then continued into the inner V with the black side. 

I really like how these shadows blend and work well together, so many variants can be used with this palette.

So look 2 was done with Wet and Wilds - Don't steal my thunder ONLY, bar the eye-pencil which again was the beautyUK one, I started from the inner crease with the brow-bone colour at the top as a base for the whole eye then i cover the lid with the silver colour. I then used the define and packed it along the lid till half way in, then i blended this until it was a fluid colour and even, it must have a duo-chrome in all the shadows as it looks dark blue but i assure you i used none. Then going in again with the define black colour i used a pencil brush to define the crease and V. Then again lined my eyes with the Black jumbo eyeliner.

Clarisonic - My diary

So yes i know I'm a little late to hit this beauty cult wagon, in my defence i had this on my wish list but its a lot to spend in one whack for me, but by the love thats QVC and there amazing easy pays i was able to afford the one thing I've been lusting after for years.

Now i will say i have researched and done my homework on this product extensively as when you purchasing a large item you need to know whats coming your way and if its something that may be right for you and what accessories you will need on top. Will you need any products to use along side it and what would be the perfect one or if the one your using is already a viable option ?

So i did this via you-tube videos also the help of other beauty gurus and women who blog about daily life in general, to see which model is the best or if there is any difference between the classic and mia version.

Clarisonic Mia - Aqua Blue

So after gathering my vast knowledge on the Clarisonic as a brand and finding out about the routines of use to the brush heads, benefits and cons. I decided yes i will use it and invest in my skin more as what is the point in buying so many creams and lotions for it to sit on my skin and i can feel this happening with my skin, i wake up and the cream is still there and i feel like I'm suffocating.

So i picked the Aqua blue as it was more me and goes with my bathroom, as i will keep mine in there on the holders i have for my items as i don't like residues so i know i will be a stickler for taking the head off after use so it will dry proper and not build up with any nasties. I received a mesh holder with it so it can breath but be protected on my shelf, also 4 brushes - delicate, sensitive, deep pore cleansing and normal plus the clarisonic cleanser. Also the magnetic charger enclosed to and the instructions with information on the benefits.

So the main reason i bought the clarisonic was that i exfoliate a lot and i do this to take of dead skin i get in the winter and then struggle with till summer when it just goes back to normal. The cycle goes that over and over again, if i could get the moisture in then i know my base for makeup would be better plus my overall mental wellbeing will improve as when you have skin imperfections it can affect your confidence greatly. So I'm hoping that it will help to smooth my skin and make application of makeup more flawless and no dry flakey patches showing also to help improve absorption of moisturisers.

So this ... don't be scared is my skin with not a spec of makeup on and clear , product free. Believe me i hate these pictures and I'm over-coming some major issues but i thought document this journey for others who maybe in similar situations and thinking will the clarisonic help me. So as you can see i have a lot of red areas and dry spots around my cheek area, i used to as a kid always get rosy cheeks in winter and then i would burn up in that area when summer hit so its an area that over working in both situations of the seasons. Lucky i don't get spots in this area, i get hormonal spotting around my corners of the lip area in that crease of my dimples up the the corner of my nose, so areas that cleansing can be tough. As you can see i have a blemish healing on my chin again hormonal by nature and thats the worst i will get. So I'm not majorly challenged and lucky in many ways that i can cover most of my imperfections quite easily. Now I've noticed I'm getting a darker area happening around the tops of my lips and i cant tell if this is age and maybe some starting of facial hair, yes i know I'm throwing it out there, i have no qualms as i pluck from my eyebrows and other unsightly places, if I'm growing a tash then so be it, i have some facial hair remover that will have it off in a jiffy. But i don't want to use it if say its a pigmentation issue with the skin so i will look into this and see.

Day 1 

So i used my mia in the evening and i have chosen to use the elemis freskskin cleanser to start my cleansing routine to then go up to the elemis cleanser after a few weeks. I used this in the evening with my routine and read the instructions fully plus charged it for the full 24hours. I used a warm water sink full to gently apply the cleanser to my face with my hands and apply a little on the mia after i had wet the bristles. Ive chose to stay with the delicate brush to get my skin used to this type of cleansing. I did the 20 seconds on my forehead with circular motions and same going down to my chin then followed by the 10 seconds on either cheek. I can honestly say I'm so shocked at the makeup its removed i thought i had taken off with my remover prior to cleansing. Its made me realise just how much i was missing and where these imperfections maybe coming from stale makeup making my skin irritated from lack of proper removal.

Overall impression : Fantastic
