Its my favourite time of the month again, my ihearthomes subsctiption box. I have the £10 subscription currently which I'm going to increase too the £15 for next month.

"Queen bee" Plaque 

Is a really well made and decorative plaque. I will have this above my vanity or on my wardrobe, to just liven up what can be a quite bland area of the room. Really lovely brightly coloured item.

Ive just started journalling and these peg's are perfect. They are multifunctional so if you have a pin board or need to secure documents, then these peg's are perfect. Mine will hold important letter's in my journal, adding a little brightness to it. 

"Be you" inspiration card

I love the inspirational card's, as they are fantastic to write on and send to friend's. So im loving having these each month. 

Butterfly gift tag

This little gift tag is a beautifully vintage item. It adds a little touch to any gift and there is enough space for a short message.  

Flowerpot pen

What an utterly adorable item, perfect for anyone whom likes journalling or anyone with young children. It can be used by budding gardeners whom want to have some fun stationary. Its very summery cute box filler.

Little bird brooch

This isnt really my cup of tea as i dont wear brooch's, however my friend loves bird's so im sure she will adore this. Its a lovely item and very chic for anyone whom likes accessories being more unique. 

Little bird Locket Keyring

My joint favourite item of this months box, made by Sass and Belle. Its a beautifully enamelled locket with a mirror and space for a photo inside. The photo can be a decent size also and not a tiny one. Really happy to have this and be able to put this on my keychain. 

Refresher sweet

Sweety, now you cant not like a sweetie. I cant eat this as im diabetic but my nephew sure will love this. No sweets go to waste. 

This month's box was lovely and full of summery items. The items are all beautiful for my home and Journal with exception of the brooch being not really to my taste,. I love the locket for my keychain and plaque to brighten up my wardrobe. The flowerpot pen and 4 tweety peg's are perfect for my journalling and will make a lovely edition to my stationary collection. The gift tag, inspiration card and refresher are lovely box fillers that are universal. The card can be framed and also given to cheer a friend up in times where a good word can be as good as a hug. Im really enjoying the happy mail boxes and find them such a refreshing change from beauty boxes. I can't wait to subscribe to the bigger box and see the difference in contents. Excited for July's box now.  

Artistic makeup

Okay so I have been delving more into artistic makeup this last month, due to one of my favourite makeup artistist challenging us to do our favourite icon. Now if we got over 10-15 entries we could then add another ... If we so wished.

Now my first entry was of course. 

Anne Boleyn - she is my icon as I love that period in time but she was way ahead of hers. She lived when men were the dominator and women were submissive but she changed this through her daughter Elizabeth the firsts rule. 

Also it's post beheading hence the bloody bandage. 

So then we were allowed another entry horrahhhhhhh.

Mine was, Mother Earth as I believe she makes everything grow and keep in balance but she is a true icon as life is a pure miracle. 

So the infinity symbol I choose for life and also the flowers detail .... I literally did not know how to do them as my brushes are not fine enough or even meant for this creative work. 

Now I did a third entry but decided not to enter it as I classed it more on the hair and was quite, subdued on the makeup.

It was,  Florence nightingale whom founded nursing sterile techniques and also is my hero. As I'm in hospital a lot so she makes me happy that we have a safe clean environment.

So what do you think of my artistic works ? As I loved it and I love my regular looks but this is a lovely thing to do every now and again.

Look book - Lana del rey

 Inspiration post and look-book : Lana Del Rey

Not being one to go for the normal in styles, it seemed only natural i was drawn to the passionate and soulful music of lana del rey. With her insightful take and also her mix of vintage style, she encapsulates natural beauty. So to try to grab a slice of her style is hard as I'm no lana del rey (Nor am i trying to copy her look) all I'm trying to do is capture the style and feel through her makeup.

So first of all to notice is the clean lines around the eyes and also the smokey hint, however not overly smokey that you loose her completely. She has a lovely hint of tan without over loading on the bronzer or blush. 

So this is the list of products i used 

MAC - Studio sculpt foundation (NW15)

Elemis - Pro-Illuminate balm  
Benefit - Fake up concealer (Hay fever season, red Rudolph nose)

Kay Hart cosmetics - Mineral concealer and setting powders in Yellow

MAC Temperature Rising Bronzer (lightly) - Sun dipped

Physicians formula - Happy booster in natural 
Cresty cosmetics - Brown brow cake powder 

MAC Extra Dimension - Skin-finish in Defiantly defined 

Helen-E / Eyelid Primer (I think is a excellent dupe for MAC paint pot)

Naked palette by Urban decay - using Sin for the inner duct, inner third using half baked/Toasted and smoke it out with a little hustle. Use virgin to blend up to the brow bone.
Mepore - Paper tape (found in boots or local chemists) to catch fallout 

Loreal - Gel liner in Black 

Chanel - New lumiere mascara (Sample)

MAC - Lipstick in Lickable

So fo this look i made sure my base was kept to a light colour and my natural skin tone as i don't want to over bronze this look. The key is to keep very natural, also using a mineral concealer ensured that i could blend easier. So with a slight hand with a small application of bronzer to the main contours but not heavy, also pick a natural flush blush that ensures a natural a finish as possible. Then use the Extra Dimension to highlight the eye bone area and temples, this Defiantly defined is a nice tanned colour to use then a stark silver or golden highlight. Its subtle and amazing. They eyes and lips will go against the grain by being very intense but will merge in the neutral palette of colour and pop being the lipstick you choose.

So i went in first with my good old paper tape to line the bottom of my eye so this line is sharp and crisp. Also the fallout will be caught but the naked palette by urban decay has little. So using the Helen -E eye primer firstly to prime the lid then pack on sin from the inner tear duct to the middle of the eye. Use a little of this to highlight the inner eye.

Then taking Half baked and Toasted pack this and blend together, then take some Hustle (only a little as its very pigmented) then blend in toward the 'V' but this is to enhance the black on the gel liner. The main colour to see is the sin and toasted blended into a lovely golden mix. If you want it more intense then add some more Half baked.

Now the tricky bit but its worth it - remember practice makes perfect and you don't need to make it this heavy just build up as you get more confident. There is loads of Tutorials on youtube off many respected makeup artists and i found the paper tape, really helps first time users. Gel liner is also a lot more easy to apply as it doesn't drag, however the brushes included are rather big so i would use a flat angled brush thats small, to literally pat a line in the area, then you can build on this guideline. 

So then application of lipstick (Exfoliate and balm the lips before all face makeup as then they will be fabulous) which in my case was - Lickable by MAC, a lovely blue based brighter pink to really complement that golden look. Accessorise with flower hairbands, natural waves or backcombed and slicked hair.
